Speak to Vanguard.

What is traffic management?

Traffic management is the planning and control of how vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians move around works. It can include signs, cones, barriers, temporary traffic lights, lane closures, diversions and protected pedestrian routes.

Why is traffic management needed?

Works can change how a road or footway is used. A suitable traffic management arrangement helps separate people from the work area, maintain access and guide road users through or around the site.

How do I gain approval for road works?

Start by identifying the highway authority and sharing the location, scope and proposed dates. Depending on the works, you may need permits, notices, licences or a temporary traffic regulation order, with supporting plans. Vanguard can help coordinate the applications; the relevant authority decides whether approval is granted.

How far in advance should I get in touch?

As early as possible. Lead times depend on the authority, road restrictions and type of works. Road closures and more complex schemes can need considerably more notice. Send us your proposed dates so we can establish the requirements.

What do you need to provide a quote?

Please send the site address or location plan, a description of the works, proposed dates and hours, likely duration, and any access or vehicle requirements. Existing drawings and authority correspondence are also useful.

Can you help with night works and pedestrian access?

Yes. We can help plan working hours, temporary lighting and pedestrian arrangements around the constraints of your site. Any required authority permissions and conditions must be agreed before works begin.

Can you support both planning and on-site delivery?

Yes. We can coordinate drawings, surveys, permit support and the agreed traffic and pedestrian management arrangements, giving you one point of contact for your project.

Requirements vary by location and scope. Contact us to discuss the requirements for your project.
